SGA VICE PRESIDENT
Reports to: SGA President
General Description
The Vice President is an elected member of the Executive Committee and is the chief operations officer of SGA. She/he directly supports the President in the strategy and direction of SGA, ensures execution of SGA’s goals through operational oversight, maintains the SGA office, and serves as the chair of the Elections Committee. Should the President be unavailable to fulfill the duties of the office, the Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency.
Duties of the Vice President
Oversee SGA projects, internal communications, and in-office work and support members as needed
Keep track of SGA office hours, member attendance, and timekeeping
Ensure adherence to the SGA Constitution and Bylaws
Document all SGA Executive Committee meetings and business meetings by taking attendance and recording meeting minutes to be posted on the SGA website
Maintain office cleanliness, appliances, and supplies
Execute semi-regular job evaluations with all SGA members
Oversee the SGA Elections process for the following term, including serving as chair of the Elections Committee
Meet weekly with the SGA President and with the SGA Advisor as needed
General Duties
Up to 15 hours of work per week
Serve on committees as appointed by the President
Attend weekly Executive Committee meetings
Attend all SGA Business Meetings
Business Meetings are held on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm. It is the responsibility of the candidate to incorporate these meetings into their class schedule.
Attend at least two on-campus events each semester
Attend all MANDATORY retreats and orientations, including:
Summer Preparatory Work (prior to start of school year)
Summer Training (August)
Spring Training
Qualifications*
Must be an undergraduate member of APU as defined by the Registrar
Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 during one full semester prior to term of office, maintained throughout the term of office
Must be prepared to hold office both Fall and Spring semesters
Must proclaim and adhere to the University Statement of Faith and Student Leadership Covenant
Must have attended the University for at least two semesters upon beginning the position
May not hold any other executive on-campus leadership positions during tenure
May not work over 10 hours per week outside of SGA
